Of Communism, Control and Cocaine

“NEW DELHI: Rahul Mahajan, son of the murdered Bharatiya Janata Party leader Pramod Mahajan, was hospitalised in a critical condition on Friday after snorting cocaine. Pramod Mahajan's personal secretary Bibek Moitra, who also took cocaine, died.”

Communism : Communism is the abolition of power of people over people. This means abolishing "oppression," whether the oppression be of nations by nations, classes by classes, women by men or any other division in society. Communism is based on mutual cooperation, peace and justice instead of oppression.

Control : To exercise authoritative or dominating influence over

Cocaine : A colorless or white crystalline alkaloid, extracted from coca leaves, sometimes used in medicine as a local anesthetic especially for the eyes, nose, or throat and widely used as an illicit drug for its euphoric and stimulating effects.

This is quite a sorry state of affairs Indian Politics is coming to. Well, we have all been there, done something similar im sure, but somehow this seems totally unrealistic especially happening to one family, which for a change, even being part of the BJP, never followed the Hindutva ideal. Pramod Mahajan was probably the single greatest entrepreneur of the BJP and to expect his son, currently being arrested for possession as well as contaminated (for lack of a better word) with cocaine, only shows the other side of Indian Politics..or is it the same side.

The ability to procure cocaine, first of all by a politician’s secretary speaks volumes about the levels of corruption. It happens everywhere of course, not just here, I remember my American exploits with similar subject matters, but someone of the likes of BiBek Moitra, who has been quite the pioneer, brash, impulsive at the same time extremely practical, is lying dead filled with COKE!

I’m not against drugs per say, even though I probably hate the thought of something like coke, every man for himself (the communist part of this post).. but the levels at which a small drug takes us..was it pressure, happiness of his dad’s death?(the worst scenario considering he was supposed to lay the ashes to rest the next day), or was it poison like the BJP men claim it to be, just to escape from the situation that a “Hindutva” is guilty of drugs!! Atleast, it was Rahul Mahajan only now, Bibek has had a history according to most articles, but still managed to find a place in the “sinless” party..Hypocrites!!

End of day, corruption, bribery, extortion, control, arms(lets not forget bofors) and now, drugs, what else is in store for Indian Politics??

@why am i

Corruption because in india, drugs are banned, so keeping that in mind, corruption comes into play because the secretary of a respectable minister has access as well as does something banned in the country..not the best government is it? :)

@mythreyee
Very true, she probably sounds like one of the under-priviledged ppl who still believe mooka or amma is going to actually do something for them for a change!

well, she voted 4 dmk ds time JUZ bcoz of da fact dat amma had arrested n "mistreated" shankaracharya! n she actually cried wen dey arrested him n accused him of all sortsa things.. dat time, i was goddamn glad atleast he was straight n not molestin male devotees :D my paati wuda had dat heart attack much sooner! :D :D

Its a really bad time for these white attired pan chewing dumbasses....yeah about time!!

The whole episode was really weird man...I mean the hospital did not want to issue a statement until they were pushed to. The dude obviously had OD, the hospitals can’t say that cuz if they do, they’ll get jacked…BJP does not know where to put their face right now…(yeah now they are doing all that anti fuel price hike thing to gain some PR)…it was all really funny.

Why Am I said...

hmmm wat me trying to say is...they are corrupted and they suk,,,and the gud ones just die...and when its easy for relatively "normal" ppl to get access to drugs, why cant some big shot guy get it? wht i was trying to say is tht i thot its does not symbolise high corrpution levels but high degradation of values...ok i crapped enuf...nice layout

karmam karmam... cant even imagine all dat! :P

Hiya....I agree with all this...But for the past fee days I just keep thinking- SHould we, today keep comparing the children or spouse or anyone related to anyone...I mean should I expect pramods son to be a neat slate...
As the days progress it gives me more reason to believe tht the company of one and the indivudual are prehaps different in many cases n drawing a parallel between them is not always giving us the saintly results...
Ofcourse the corruption, the hyprocracy n everything is accounted for...I am not game for all the crap but this is somethin gwhich was sitting in my mind n I am errupting this thought here..You can now laugh n say "Wow wht a super dumb thought!!" :) :)
Impressive writing style!

@scribblez

Very true, comparison is definitely the wrong thing to do as far as individuals go..i wouldnt expect rahul mahajan to be his dad, but i would definitely expect a certain level of discipline or sanity from a "supposed" future "owner" of the country(keep calling MPs and MLAs that cos they behave that way!). All said and done, i guess it was a stupid act, he got "Cheated" by the Nigerian into contaminated herion instead of cocaine, and i guess its time for him to face the music :)

fair enough! i mean, its depressing to think that the son of one of our better politicians - well, at least the man had a sense of humour - could be caught with coke.
but i think you're also right in "only shows the other side of Indian Politics..or is it the same side."
these TTDC apartments assigned for government officials are all being used for prostitution and the like... drugs is only a step ahead of that i guess.

@abhinav

very true man, ive also heard the number of cases where govt offices have been used for "extra-curricular" activities..:)
